A new year is upon us and it will be filled with amazement and wonder as we continue our nomadic lifestyle in our retirement!

We had a wonderful Christmas season with our 4 kids, 8 grandkids, and other close family at our Inn where we have lots of room for everyone. There were times of family games, family singalongs with our family band, and deep important discussions while making many fond memories with those who are the most important to us.
Businesswise it was also good. We rearranged some priorities for the last quarter and ended it on a high note for all! Even in retirement, we are watching trends and applying what we know from our history to predict what is coming. COVID-19 adds a whole new dimension, but our analytics have been tried and true for years. My husband is amazing at numbers and predictions, so when he sees things that need to be adjusted, we all listen! Our children, who make up our Board of Directors along with Denny & I, are learning more and more about this wonderful business and we will have a Board Retreat at the end of February to solidify some future plans. Putting the agenda together and securing our facilities for that is my main Deer Creek Winery focus in January.
Last fall we took a few shorter trips and returned to our business staying in our little onsite Manor 111 suite while in Shippenville. We worked and attended several meetings helping the company through the last quarter of 2021. Our Integrator (from the EOS system) did a great job leading the team to a strong finish! We anticipate fewer visits back this year and more miles with new destinations on our horizon than last year! We are really enjoying our lives, moving around discovering new areas.
We have made a tentative plan that encompases all of our retirement dreams: RV traveling, live aboard boat travel, and being at the Pymatuning yacht Club to be closer to family and sail on the lake!
We are transitioning to being the Founders rather than the Owners. This has been a huge shift in my thinking and that of our staff. They no longer look to us for direction, but to the management team as it needs to be. So for now, the Founders are traveling and enjoying retirement!
